Who can file a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) ?

Any public spirited person, an association or a group of such persons who have no personal interest in the matter, acting bona fide, can file a PIL. A “Public spirited” person is that who is moved by the interest and issues of the public and wants to genuinley contribute to the society.

Nobody, can use a PIL as a means of settling their personal disputes or to serve some oblique motives and interests.

Nobody, who has a political or personal or publicity interest, can file a PIL.
