What Is The Newly Signed Abortion Law Of Texas All About?
The new law in Texas, the USA concerning abortion law bans abortion-inducing medications signed by Governor Greg Abbott on Friday.
The procedure of abortion has been banned under the new law after a fetal Heartbeat is detected which in most cases is detected at about six weeks.
According to the abortion-rights groups, 85% to 90% of abortion procedures are performed after 6 weeks.
The law states that the doctors in the state are only allowed to prescribe abortion-inducing medications up to 7 weeks after conception. Previously the restriction was set at 10 weeks.
The intervention of the US Supreme Court has been requested by the abortion providers in Texas on Thursday on an urgent basis in their challenge to a State Law imposing a near-total ban on abortion.
