35 new courts to be set up in Gujrat for POSCO cases

 The state’s law department has issued a notification on September 18 that states setting up 35 new courts in Gujrat for the trail of Protection of Children against Sexual Offences (POCSO) and rape cases. 

Backed by the state government, Every district of Gujarat will now have a special court to expedite cases relating to POCSO. 

Presently in Gujrat, there are 69 POCSO special courts but the court has decided to add 24 special Fast Track courts out of which 11 courts will deal with only rape cases of minors.

However, if the number of rape cases of minors is less in number, then such courts can also try rape cases against women. 

These special courts will take up POCSO matters registered after 30th April of 2019.
