An extension has been provided to the validity of documents such as driving licenses, registration and permits that expired on February 1, 2020, or later up till June 30, 2020, by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways amid coronavirus lock-down.
The Ministry on Monday, in an advisory to all States and Union Territories, has asked to consider the expired documents as valid till June 30, 2020.
As the nation is under lock-down amid coronavirus including the government transport offices, the decision aims to facilitate people facing difficulties in renewing the validity of various motor vehicle documents due to the inaccessibility of the transport offices at present.
Following are the documents included for extension-
- Fitness, permits of all types,
- Driving license, registration and
- Any other document that falls under the Motor Vehicle Rules.
All the states across India have been requested by the ministry to adhere to the given advisory and implement the same in “letter and spirit” so that the public, transporters, and organizations providing essential services are not inconvenienced.
